READER REVIEWS

Although I am not divorced or about to embark on a divorce, I found this book really helpful.   I don't think there are many people who have not experienced a 'significant' loss in their lives and this book could help them too.  I loved the mountain analogy expressed all the way through, particularly where Keith talks about his need to 'climb down' from his mountain otherwise he would 'die' because of lack of 'oxygen', along with the importance of leaving behind our unforgiveness, anger or disappointment (our baggage) so we feel lighter and more able to walk the next part of the journey God has for us.

This book will be of real help to many people. I would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone in pastoral leadership as well as anyone going through such a tough time.

This book is much more than going through a divorce. It's about Keith's journey of life with God. God is Good all the time.

The book is about how Keith handled rejection, hurt, disappointment, forgiveness & restoration.

I really enjoyed this book. What a testimony the author has!!
Loved the way it was so grounded in scripture and I’m sure it will be a great support and encouragement to anyone experiencing difficult times.

One of my favourite verses in the Scriptures is John chapter 10 verse 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy but I have come that you might have life and have it in all its fulness. Keith our pastor at Grace church observed on visits to Christian bookshops and on stalls at Christian conferences that there was a distinct absence of books setting out a Christian view of divorce.

In Life beyond divorce speaking powerfully but lovingly of the pain he felt from a marriage breakdown followed by divorce, Keith sets out to redress this shortfall. He describes how God has brought restoration in his life dealing in successive chapters with disappointment, anger, forgiveness, peace, and joy. He talks about the temptation to bitterness over what happened to him in the marriage breakdown and subsequent divorce and how God dealt with him lovingly, and he in turn was then able to minister his forgiveness and peace to others.

He points above all to the plan of restoration that God provided through the death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ and the provision of His spirit to transform us by his grace love and mercy. This restoration is traced through the return of the exiles from Babylon to begin the work of rebuilding the walls of the temple in Jerusalem , and throughout the history of the church to the present day.

This book will bring deep and lasting relief to those who have experienced the pain of marriage breakdown and divorce and those seeking to pastor those affected. For me, the beauty of the book is that same restorative power of the spirit is available to all who will receive in a range of painful situations that all of us will experience in life.

This book and especially the author’s prayer has so touched my heart. I know a lot of people who will want to read it. I honestly didn’t think I could read it so quickly. But it’s so accessible and easy to read.
It is written from the heart and reveals God’s heart for all of us. It’s had an impact on me for sure!

I read this book all in one go. There was a huge amount I could relate to in terms of lessons learnt/learning regarding forgiveness, bitterness, resentment, disappointment, wonderful friendships, trusting God. I think this book will be really helpful to others. I hope in time my experiences will help others too.
